After years of working in film and video and filling sketchpads with quick portraits of fellow subway riders I took up oil painting in 2004 with a class at New York City’s Art Students League. On my move to Baltimore the following year I decided to work as a freelancer so that I could devote more time to painting. My focus is on exploring imagery that’s influenced by the art that I love: Impressionism and other styles of representational, figurative art that take the living form as a starting point for exploring colors, moods and emotions.

My work has been celebrated in New York magazine, the Baltimore Sun, Urbanite magazine, Art Basel Miami Beach magazine, and on Fox45, WJZ (CBS), Maryland Public Television and on Baltimore’s NPR station WYPR. My work has appeared in galleries and restaurants in Baltimore, New York and Miami. In 2009 I was part of Maryland Art Place’s 23rd Annual Critic’s Residency Program, curated by Vincent Katz. I’ve split my time between painting original work inspired by my life and experiences and painting commissioned work for clients who connect with my style. I’ve also used my work to help promote numerous charities that represent causes that are important to me.

I’ve been proud to use my work to help promote and raise funds for groups doing work for or with animals. Here are links to some of the groups to which I’ve either donated paintings or proceeds from the sales of paintings:
